PE and Games
Physical Education develops children's competence and confidence to participate and perform in a range of activities. It promotes skill development and knowledge of the human body in action, including their own 'self' and 'spatial' awareness, progressing towards their role in small-sided structured games, as part of a group with a shared aim.
PE at St Bartholomew's provides opportunities for pupils to be both creative and competitive and face different challenges individually and in teams. It promotes positive attitudes towards active and healthy lifestyles.
Purpose of study – National Curriculum (NC), 2014
A high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.
